Welding Technology


Welding Technology I - 2 Credits

The Welding program is designed to develop job entry skills for the students interested in a career in welding.  The student will study the basic skills in ARC, MIG, TIG, and oxyacetylene with major emphasis on ARC welding techniques, which meet the American Welding Society Standards.

Prerequisite:  None

Welding Technology II - 2 Credits

The Welding II course broadens the students knowledge and skills through experience in independent study of welding procedures, blueprint reading, and job analysis.  This course is based on fundamental welding concepts as they apply to welding of carbon steel.  It emphasizes the interrelationships of the welding process, material's selection, product design, production techniques, quality control, and provides the knowledge necessary to solve day-to-day welding and fabrication problems.

Prerequisite:   Welding Technology I

Welding Equipment Needed

Mandatory Equipment

1.    OSHA approved CLEAR safety glasses (stamped Z.87)

2.    LEATHER WORK BOOTS (preferably steel toe)

3.    Leather welding gloves

4.    $20.00 breakage fee

5.    Welding jacket

6.    Blue jeans (no shorts)

7.    $10.00 lock rental fee (If lock is returned in working order $10.00 will be refunded.)

Optional Equipment

1.    Welding helmet (4 1/2" x 5 1/4" No. 10 Shade lens)

2.    Cutting goggles (No. 5 shade lens)

3.    Chipping hammer, wire brush, tip cleaner, pair of large pliers, striker

Note:  Parent/Guardian must sign a document stating that they are aware of the requirements for their son/daughter to take this class.
