The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan's state-funded preschool program for four-year-old children with factors which may place them at risk of educational failure. The program is administered by the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Great Start. Funding is allocated to each intermediate school district (ISD) to administer the program locally.

Research tells us that children provided with a high-quality preschool experience show significant positive growth in their development and readiness for kindergarten when compared to children from the same backgrounds who did not attend a high-quality preschool program.

For more information or to see if you qualify for a program in the area, contact Lacy Lauzon, Early Childhood Consultant for Delta-Schoolcraft ISD at (906) 789-9476, or by email: [email protected]

If you are a center-based preschool interested in providing GSRP services to young children and families of Delta or Schoolcraft County, start by examining the Path to Quality Pre-K and the GSRP-Ready Checklist below to compare your program strengths with GSRP requirements.
