Since your student is enrolled in the PC Technology class at the Delta Schoolcraft ISD I would like to introduce myself and tell you a few things about our class, classroom and myself. You will also be receiving a progress report as well as a letter from the counselors here at the DSISD. Please read all the enclosed letters and do not hesitate to call any of us if you have questions or concerns.
My name is Dave Bosilovatz but the students usually call me Mr. B. The first few weeks in class have been very busy and we have accomplished quite a bit. Your student has already set up his/her computer in the desks in our classroom and installed Windows XP Professional as well as Microsoft Office 2007, done numerous updates and installed several additional software programs. They have written short biographies of themselves to put on our walls and we have now begun learning from our books. This year in PC Tech we will be focusing on the hardware portion of computers – if you student comes back next year he/she will learn computer software. As the year goes on we will take computers apart and put them back together. We will learn about printers, monitors and networking hardware also. It’s a lot to learn but it should be a fun and exciting year. I believe the we learn by doing – and I have been doing this (working with and teaching about computers) for over 11 years now – so we will be doing a lot of hands on labs to help reinforce what we talk about and read in our textbook.
Our classroom has a lecture area, desks with 30 Windows XP computers loaded on them, 4 computers we will be loading Windows 7 on and a bench area where we can take apart our “lab” computers to learn about their inner workings as well as fix computers for the classroom or any that are brought in for repair.
Again, please call if you have any concerns or comments. We will also have Parent/Teacher conferences in November you can attend and you are welcome to stop by to talk or just visit our school – call ahead and I will be glad to give you a tour some day. The best time for me is after classes in the afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30 or so. I thank you for your time and look forward to seeing or hearing from you in the future.
