3. Course Description: This course is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of opportunities in the field of machining. As well as basic machining operations, supplemental components of the course will include blueprint reading, basic and finite measurement, machine and workplace maintenance, workplace safety, and career and employability skills. In addition, students will be introduced to the design process, computer aided design, and computerized numerical control (CNC) machining. Students will have a wide range of hands-on experience to assist them in making career choices in the ever-expanding machine tool industries. We are moving a step farther than last year with more projects and files posted for the students to look up and find from any computer. Some of this is being built and will become more available as the year progresses.
4. I am a journeyman machinist of over 30 years. I have worked in the aerospace industry, and have been a business owner. I enjoy teaching students about the trade I am very passionate about. We need new machinist with the basics that they can take and become machinists, engineers, and more. The machining trade has many opportunities and they are growing.
